7/28/2023 0 Comments Wild 9 ps1 review![]() One, the world map, which looks like it belonged on the Super Nintendo, and two, the horrible 3-D graphics that appear during battles. ![]() The visual presentation is near flawless, yet two small things will hold the score back a bit on this category. ![]() Each location and village in the game has a distinctive feel too. One only has to witness the beautiful design of our three main heroes. Not only does Wild Arms presents us with technically impressive looking graphics, but the artwork it’s flawless. You can even see details like hair movement by the wind. The character sprites in Wild Arms are smooth, they don’t have that common pixilated look found in other games. The Character sprites themselves are by far the best I have seen in this type of game, save for Grandia, Breath of Fire IV and Xenogears. Wild Arms is really a work of art, visually (and in other areas as well) it takes a lot from the Lunar series and Chrono Trigger. The Graphics here are good enough to even grab the attention of even the most 2-D games skeptics around. The backgrounds are beautifully drawn featuring exquisite colors, and lighting effects. To start, the 2-D visuals of Wild Arms are some of the best – if not the best – I have seen in a 2-D RPG. Wild Arms is an epic, a SUPER long, and frustratingly difficult RPG, that only those who have the patience of a Shaolin temple monk will conquer. However, what I found was the total opposite of what I was expecting. I approached the game thinking it was going to be a simple, fun, quick RPG in which my brain would finally take a much needed break from the monstrous Lunar 2, and the 3-D action adventuring of Fable. I approached this game a couple of weeks ago after finishing Fable, and Lunar 2 (again). So it is no wonder that today 8 years after its release the game is highly sought after by hardcore RPG fans. Make no mistake, the first Wild Arms is by far the best game in the series, and not only that, but it is also one of the very best RPGs of all time. Because of this, Wild Arms pretty much went under the radar for most gamers, but was successful enough to merit two sequels. The game was published by Sony in the US in 1997, just a few months before the inevitable release of the great Final Fantasy VII. Even little things like the music and smaller story elements are appealing and gives stuff you want to do.Wild Arms is a humble RPG offering developed by Media Vision. This allows you to backtrack and get into areas that you could not before. There are lots of extras like finding super bosses to fight if you want to and you get different special tools and power ups for all three people in you party. This is the type of game that you have to spend some time leveling up because it is challenging and you will have boss battles that you will have no chance unless you are stronger. Sometimes you even get separated and you only have one group member to use as you try to reunite with the other two and that even works too. With so many RPGs having several playable characters to choose from, being able to just focus and the story development of three is refreshing and makes you root for them a little more. Having only three people in your group helps. ![]() The game has the same fell like Final Fantasy VII, it has 2D and 3D fighting to the overall look. Wild Arms story in a perfect mix of Wild West, pirates ships, magic and technology. ARM is a weapon left over from the war that is considered to be forbidden causing him to become an outsider. Finally, Rudy an orphan who has a something called an ARM attached to him. Cecilia a young mage who has spent most of her life studding magic at the Abbey. Jack a treasure hunter and master swordsmen who joins the quest for riches and adventure. The three people in your group are called Dream Chasers. A great evil force is trying to resurrect their leader and tear the world down. Now some of the problems that were around before the war started that never got resolved are starting to resurface. The war was so long ago people are not sure who it was against. The world of Filgaia has forgotten about what caused a great war. Wild Arms is also a western themed RPG and there were not very many games that used this period in history as a games story plot point in 1996 when this game came out for PS1. There are three main characters that the story is centered around. Wild Arms is a random battle RPG that is in the same style as Final Fantasy VII, Suikoden and The Legend of Dragoon.
